I’m at a point in my life where I am going through a lot of changes. I am about to get married, about to launch a new business idea, about to start a new project, about to consider buying my first house with my fiancee.
There is a lot going on, and personally, there are a lot of moments where I think
“Once I achieve x, then I will live my best life, then I will be happy, then I will be content, then I will relax”
It got me thinking, at what point do we stop and realise that our personal fulfilment through goal chasing never truly ends?
We are constantly setting new goals for ourselves - and the journey of pursing those goals, is often the place where we find true growth.
We can't grow and develop as humans when we have everything we desire. A huge part of growth is not having what we want, not being where we want to be.
I’ve personally found that I tend to say “When I launch my new project, then I will do this, then I will do that” I tend to pull the blanket over my head and work, work, work, and neglect the things that are meant to be apart of the process. I won’t eat right, I won't exercise properly, I won't dress creatively, because I’m working from home, in a dark room, trying to bring my project to life. I tell myself that once I have worked hard enough at my project, then I will start living my best life.
Why do we put off the person that we truly want to be? Why do we let goal chasing define our inner peace?
Because in order to start living, we are waiting for something to happen first.
I think it’s really important to act and live as if everything you want and are working towards is happening.
To think and always remember, that you are achieving, and you are going to achieve. To feel that, to believe that.
I hope you can realise that we need to be happy in the now, that everything you want to happen is happening, it’s ours, we just don't have it in this moment.
So, join the gym, cook the home made pasta, drive to the beach with your dogs. Live that dream life you have always longed for, even if you think you don't deserve it yet!

People say that what is meant for you will always be.. and to some degree I believe that.
Perhaps our calling finds a way to us?
I can tell you that a lot of people have found their calling by mistake. For instance, how many times have you heard someone saying that they just tried something, or someone asked them to come along to something, perhaps they were even dragged to something against their will- and it turns out, that they are amazing at that particular thing.
Or, you know how sometimes you get an inkling that you want to do something, and then you shrug it off? Or, maybe there is one thing that you have really been wanting to do, and life keeps getting in the way. Those are the little things in between you and your hidden talent.
If you don’t take action, for whatever the variables are, you may miss out on huge opportunity. We know this to be true for many principals in life, yet.. did you ever consider passing thoughts as clues for your life's divine plan?
For me personally, one day I had the nudge to go to an Art Shop I always drove past. I did art in high school, yet to tell you the truth I wasn't very good at it. I think in high school you tend to compare yourself to a lot of people, so I never thought that day my decision could lead to a career in design.
I also never knew about Textile Design, so of course I never thought it could be a career. So, given all of this, why did I even go? What was I hoping to achieve? All I knew was that I needed a hobby, like most things though I would probably give up.
The day came and I took my brother with me, we were both still living at home at the time. When I asked him if he would come, he looked back at me with a puzzled look on his face, and for the effort of killing time, he agreed.
I sped home. I actually got a speeding ticket - which is funny, because I was obviously SO excited. I had no idea what I was going to paint. I knew I had to create something, something had to come out, something had to happen.
My point is, I didn't have to go to the art store that day, I could have let self doubt get in the way, used some old materials that I had at home, yet - it was a split second decision based off an inkling, that, today was the day I was going to do something different. That decision ended up leading to a 7 year career in Textile Design.
I also reflect on the fact that If I hadn't of posted the photos of my paintings on Instagram I wouldn't have been contacted by the companies that gave me my first shot, and, so the cycle continues. If I hadn't of taken that one photo, that one day, of that one drawing.
So where is this going?
It’s so easy to dismiss thoughts. It’s so easy to put things off, or to not try new things. I think if you don't know what you passion is, you have to try a thousand things, you don't get the luxury of being dismissive with passing thoughts and inklings.
For once, don’t ignore those tiny, erratic voices in the back of your head.
In the early stages of my painting it was still never an option for me to be a full time Textile Artist, I went to university and studied a Bachelor of Business Degree, majoring in Human Resources and Integrated Marketing Communications.
The moment I was employed as a commercial designer, earning a steady salary with super, paying of my university debt, having had bought an Audi, all through my designs was the very moment I thought back to that day, where I realised that driving to the West End Art Shed was just the beginning.
Again, for me, it was going to the Art Shop, but obviously it’s going to be something different for you.
James Franco took an acting class to impress a girl.
How will your story begin?
The patterns and prints craze shouldn't just be left to one off dresses. Prints can work equally as well, if not better on jackets and pants too, if you choose your set carefully.
It seems that the safest way to wear print on print is to wear a matching set. If you match with a co-ordinated bottom, you’ve got the perfect on trend winter outfit for the warmer months, or alternatively, mix with a contrasting yet similar print for an elevated look.
Being a print lover, it wasn't hard to think of just three key benefits for anyone who is on the fence..
1. Multiple outfit opportunities
If you buy a matching set you are essentially investing in multiple outfit opportunities for the future. A great advantage of the matching set is all of the different outfit variations you get from only purchasing two pieces, or essentially just "one outfit".
I never really thought about buying a printed set and not actually wearing both pieces at the same time.. however wearing printed pants with a plain jacket, or a printed top with plain pants is the perfect way to turn impulse purchases into every day looks.
2. Mix and Match with friends
I attended a trend forecasting conference in Melbourne last year and one of the main themes was about sharing. Did you ever stop to think you might end up swapping or sharing your clothes oppose to buying them new.. as if you were a teenager again?
Lorna Hall, head of WGSN Insight shares that Generation Z are comfortable with not owing assets. Selling, swapping, borrowing, donating, renting, co living and sharing communities are going to be much more prominent in the future. She claims that by 2030, millennials will be striving to not own anything.
Perhaps it's time to swap clothes again with a friend? Do your printed pieces match by any chance? Fancy a print clash or a colour block? This look is increasingly popular amongst street style moguls during fashion week, with images going viral on Pinterest and Instagram.
3. Stay on trend
Lastly, weather you mix and match the set with your staple wardrobe pieces or even with your closest friends, playing with prints is the perfect way to perk up your outfit for any occasion. Prints are a great way of making a statement and showcasing your personal style to the world.

Everyone knows that Linen has a great reputation. Chances are, if you wear it regularly, you are making a conscious effort to be the best version of yourself.
Yet, if you aren't quite convinced; maybe you know it's amazing but you don't own much of it.. Here are some of key reasons you need to know about it.
1. It can be worn a million different ways
What I love about linen is that is has no bounds. Most people think of linen as the perfect casual/ lounge wear, but it is so much more than that.
I can actually say, that for the first time in my life I witnessed a linen wedding dress. Yes, most likely the most formal occasion you could think of. So, basically, you can dress your linen up and down, high and low, Mary Kate and Ashley.
2. It's not killing the planet
Linen is considered a premium fabric, meaning it can be expensive, so people tend to steer away from it, but have you thought about at what cost? We must remember that not all fabrics are created equal.
Linen is a plant-based fabric made from flax, which can be grown on terrain that’s unsuitable for food production. When grown through traditional techniques, linen actually consumes very little water or pesticides, leaving quite a small environmental footprint. Linen is naturally biodegradable, which means you won’t be adding to landfill or poisoning the soil.
3. It breathes, so you'll sweat less
Linen has amazing temperature regulating properties. People who wear linen clothes perspire 1.5 times less than people who wear cotton and twice than those who dress in viscose.
It is the perfect attire for a hot climate, and is a long wearing fabric, twice as long as cotton. It is also less likely to cling to your skin, so it blows, dry's and becomes cool again.
4. It's gets better with wear
Linen gets better as you wear and wash it. According to Vogue, one way you can both ensure your linen bedding lasts the distance is by ditching the iron. Linen will naturally become softer and more comfy with every wash. Another reason to ditch the iron is to make those natural crumples and texture do their thing, giving it that look book, Pinterest aesthetic.
5. It gives you an effortlessly cool vibe
Aside from all of the obvious reasons why linen is amazing, everyone who wears it generally feels more confident in some way. For example.. Oh this Tea Towel? Oh, these Cushions? Thanks, they are linen.
