It only makes sense for my first 'A Touch of Colour' post to start with a beautiful home in Sydney draped in Navy and White. While colour can sometimes feel intimidating, there is no denying it usually both elevates and changes the energy of the room. I recognise that there is an art to how we use colour in our lives, and that is why I look forward to sharing homes from those who do it best.
For quite some time I've known the magic of Navy, although it wasn't until I worked as an in house designer at one of Australia's largest homeware retailers, that I realised how much it was a "core colour" in so many homes. Sitting along side cream, black and white in the home, navy is highly commercial, classic and often timeless. I have shared a few of my favourite images below from a home with navy and white incorporated throughout. I hope this both inspires and delights.
Seaside Rustic Modern by Interior Designer Lynda Kerry
"Seaside Rustic Modern" Designed by Lynda Kerry
Perched high above Sydney Harbour with views to the heads, this home is a modern synthesis of rustic and refined elements with polished American charm. Interior Designer Lynda Kerry explains the interiors of the home convey warmth through woods, natural materials and an earthy colour palate which reflects the sky, the water and the earth.
For me, I love how this home has navy added in ways that are non permanent, cushions and ceramics are great for this - with only a few walls painted throughout the home. When you use colour this way, you can easily change it up at a later date. In my opinion, this home is a great ode to west indie's interiors, with a touch of classic chinoiserie style. I thought I would link to a few of my navy and white textiles, printed onto organic linen and made right here in Australia. There are so many ways you can add a touch of colour to your home. What is your colour of choice? Do you have a few? Please leave me a comment.. I would love to know! Lots of love, Britt xo
