My Mother Francesca and I flew to Hanoi, Vietnam via Singapore on Singapore Airlines early last month. My Mother is a Travel Manager at Flight Centre, so we were lucky enough to have a great trip planned ahead of us. We arrived at The Sofitel Metropole Hanoi and were instantly in awe! It really was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in.

Due to the type of room we had, a private Butler kindly escorted us to it and offered to unpack our bags, which we kindly declined. We had the most amazing view out the window from our suite. It felt like we had two holidays in one, it was great being able to explore the culture of the city streets and then be able to experience the french influence of our hotel.

Buffet Breakfast really was the absolute highlight. Any thing and everything that you could image, they had it. I really enjoyed the french influence of Vietnam, the croissants and my meatless Pho Noodle soup were so delicious.

Thankfully, whilst in Vietnam we were looked after by Flight Centre’s affiliate Asian Tour company Buffalo Tours. We were showed all of Hanoi’s highlights, including the French Catholic Church, Taoism Temple, amazing local cuisine and hidden cafes.

After a few days relaxing in Hanoi we took a car ride to Ha Long Bay. It was really beautiful and definitely worth the drive. We stayed on a private 6 Cabin, 5 Star Cruise. Every meal on board was amazing, with a 4 course menu to choose from. There was also a Library, Gym and Sauna on Board, I however failed to use any of these features as any spare time we had was spent napping.

On one day we were taken to a surrounding island to climb the mountain. I decided to call it quits half way up and ran down for some fresh coconuts.

I absolutely loved our trip to Vietnam. Special thanks to Flight Centre, Buffalo Tours and my beautiful mother Francesca Laspina. To contact her for an amazing trip like this one email: francesca.laspina@flightcentre.com.au
