Britt LaSpina is an Artist, Print and Textile Designer from Brisbane, Australia. Britt's work centres on expressive pattern, considered composition and a refined use of colour. Her practice explores the relationship between artwork and product, translating original motifs into versatile prints for fashion, swim and lifestyle applications. Rather than being confined to a single aesthetic, Britt approaches design with flexibility and curiosity, allowing each project to evolve through its own visual language. This openness enables her to experiment across styles, materials and applications, resulting in work that is both visually distinctive while still remaining commercially relevant.
Over the past decade, Britt has designed prints and products across fashion, swimwear and interiors, working both independently and in-house within the industry. She has created designs for brands including Lorna Jane, Beginning Boutique, Ruby Yaya, Sacha Drake, Vorgee and Lolly May, and previously worked as an in-house print designer for Australian homewares retailer Pillow Talk. Her prints have appeared on runways and international collections, including Miami Swim Week, with several designs becoming commercial best sellers. In 2017, Britt exhibited independently at Premiere Vision New York, one of the world’s leading textile trade shows, presenting her work alongside international print and textile studios. With a background in design and a deep understanding of the print industry, Britt has developed a practice that sits between art, product and collaboration. Her work considers not only the creation of the artwork itself, but also how prints function on real products, taking into account scale, placement and the practicalities of manufacturing. This approach allows her designs to move seamlessly from concept to finished product across fashion, textiles and lifestyle goods. Alongside her creative work, Britt also shares her knowledge with emerging designers and brands who wish to incorporate prints into their products. She has spoken with students at the Queensland University of Technology and regularly shares insights into her design process and the print industry, helping bridge the gap between artistic creation and the technical considerations required to bring printed designs to market. |
