I’m at a point in my life where I am going through a lot of changes. I am about to get married, about to launch a new business idea, about to start a new project, about to consider buying my first house.
There is a lot going on, and personally, there are a lot of moments where I think “Once I achieve x, then I will live my best life, then I will be happy, then I will be content, then I will relax” It got me thinking, at what point do we stop and realise that our personal fulfilment through goal chasing never truly ends? We are constantly setting new goals for ourselves - and the journey of pursing those goals, is often the place where we find true growth. We can't grow and develop as humans when we have everything we desire. A huge part of growth is not having what we want, not being where we want to be. I’ve personally found that I tend to say “When I launch my new project, then I will do this, then I will do that” I tend to pull the blanket over my head and work, work, work, and neglect the things that are meant to be apart of the process. I won’t eat right, I won't exercise properly, I won't dress creatively, because I’m working from home, in a dark room, trying to bring my project to life. I tell myself that once I have worked hard enough at my project, then I will start living my best life. Why do we put off the person that we truly want to be? Why do we let goal chasing define our inner peace? Because in order to start living, we are waiting for something to happen first. I think it’s really important to act and live as if everything you want and are working towards is happening. To think and always remember, that you are achieving, and you are going to achieve. To feel that, to believe that. I hope you can realise that we need to be happy in the now, that everything you want to happen is happening, it’s ours, we just don't have it in this moment. So, join the gym, cook the home made pasta, drive to the beach with your dogs. Live that dream life you have always longed for, even if you think you don't deserve it yet! Britt xx |
